The
Launching of KLF

The
launching of the Kadazandusun Language Foundation (KLF)
marked the premiering of the first-ever language foundation
solely dedicated to the efforts in preserving, developing
and promoting the Kadazandusun Language in Sabah and
Labuan.

The launching of KLF was held on the 20th of December
1997, at the Tun Fuad Community Centre Penampang.

Y.B. Datuk Tham Nyip Shen,
Deputy Chief Minister
on behalf of the then Chief Minister,
Y.A.B. Datuk Yong Teck Lee, launched KLF's homepage
on the Internet: www.infosabah.com.my/klf.
At a click of the mouse, 11 books recently published
were simultaneously launched: Pinandai do Pahanuk,
Tingadan do Mogiambahut, I Buu om I Bado, I Kondiu
Om I Manuk and others.

The launching of KLF received
a warm response from the public. The preservation,
development and promotion of the Kadazandusun language
is a concern shared deeply by everyone in the Kadazandusun
community. Communal effort is vital in ensuring that
cultural identity remains intact through the use of
one's own mother tongue.
