April 2002, KLF Golf Fund Raising Activities

KLF Golf 2002 is held to raise funds for KLF's wide-ranging state and district-level language perservation, development and promotion programmes. In its 7th year of operation, KLF has made its mark in Sabah's language scene as the first indigeneous foundation.

October 2002, Discovery Channel (Asia) Highlights Endangered Languages Around The World (Vignette)

In response to the statement made by linguists attending the International Linguistics Congress in Quebec in 1992 - urging UNESCO to do something for the endangered and dying languages in the world - UNESCO adopted at its conference in November 1993 the 'Endangered Languages Project' including the 'Red Book of Endangered Languages'. Several efforts have been carried out elsewhere in the world and finally it come to Sabah, Malaysia. A Discovery Network Asia team from Singapore came in October 2002 to document one of the identified endangered languages, i.e, the Kadazan/Dusun language. The team, led by producer Ida Tan, was brought to visit centers that teach the Kadazandusun language. The 60-second vignette is going to be aired on 21 February 2003 in conjunction with the International Mother Language Day (IMLD) as declared by UNESCO and will be celebrated for the first time in Malaysia next year on 21 February 2003.
